V8 Star Greg Murphy swapped the race track for an advertising shoot recently when he was chosen to be the star of a Pepsi Max television commercial to promote the ‘Cash or Car’ competition that’s currently live on-pack.
Greg was playing himself which meant that his acting skills weren’t really pushed to the limits, in fact he didn’t even need to move from behind the steering wheel of his iconic Pepsi Max Crew Commodore, which had a new electric green livery applied to also highlight the competition.
The commercial which was shot in the Sydney suburb of Cronulla is part of the campaign to drive entries to the 2012 ‘Cash or Car’ competition, which will give one lucky winner the conundrum of choosing between $50,000 or a Holden HSV E3 GTS worth approximately $100,000. Naturally Greg reckons that the winner should choose the car every time.
Speaking from the shoot Greg said “I was a really pleased when I was told the Pepsi guys wanted to use me for the advert and it turned out to be a great experience. Luckily I only had one or two lines to learn and didn’t have to move from the driver’s seat of my car so I wasn’t tested too much. I really enjoyed it but am not expecting a call from Baz Luhrmman anytime soon, stranger things have happened though. I am really looking forward to seeing the end result and hopefully I won’t cop it too much from the other drivers”.
