Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Scott Pye has claimed his first Dunlop Series podium result, finishing second at Round 2 of the Championship at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway.
Pye started from pole for today’s final 18-lap race but suffered a clutch issue off the line, dropping the Monster Energy/Gear Wrench supported driver to second where he stayed for the remainder of the race.
In what was a successful weekend for the V8 Supercar rookie, Pye took his first pole, first race win and first podium and said success in the V8 Supercar feeder series came sooner than expected.
“The whole weekend was fantastic," Pye said. "The last race was pretty good too but unfortunately we lost the start due to a few small dramas.
“We showed during the race we had great pace so for me it’s been a great experience this weekend. I battled it out up the front with the other guys which is a great confidence boost.
“We will go home and debrief so we can show up at the next round stronger again,” Pye concluded.
Taking 264 points from the weekend, Pye now moves to third in the Dunlop Series standings.
